LASER HAIR REMOVAL - What is it ?
An intense beam of light which passes safely through the upper layers of the skin and targets the melanin in the hair follicle. This causes the follicle to heat up, cauterising the blood vessel feeding the follicle, which destroys it, preventing further hair growth. The laser destroys the hair in their active hair growth. This means individual hair grows in different stages depending on its cycle, hence one needs multiple treatments for the laser to target all the hairs in their active growth stage.
What to expect during Laser Hair Removal
Before the treatment starts the hair on the area being treated needs to be trimmed with a razor above the skins surface by yourself before your appointment. The laser machine will be adjusted according to the colour, thickness and location of your hair being treated along with your skin colour.
Eye protection will be worn, and a cooling device will be used to protect the outer layers of your skin.
When the procedure is finished a cooling Aloe Vera gel will be used to ease any discomfort. You may then schedule your next treatment four to six weeks later.
Over the next month, your hair should fall out. We do advise over the next month to wear sunscreen to help prevent temporary changes in the colour of the treated skin.
LASER versus IPL

IPL uses a broad spectrum of high-intensity light, which is emitted at multiple wave lengths.
